Auckland, New Zealand-born shoe designer Sarah Riley knew even as a small girl that shoes made her extremely happy, but it wasn't until age 25 that she began to make her passion her profession.
A Fine Arts Graduate, she noticed a correlation between shoes and art early on, finding them both beautiful and sculptural and able to be viewed as truly treasured items. With this in mind she sought the help of a local shoe maker and became New Zealand's first high fashion shoe designer, creating women's footwear that celebrates and acknowledges femininity as important and valid in a post-modern society.
Influenced by fashion, art, people she meets and life experiences, Sarah does not consider her work merely designing, but also sculpting and creating an artistic form which is destined to be treasured by the owner and coveted by all.
Shoe philosophy
Sarah Riley's aim when first setting about design a range of exquisite footwear was "to create shoes that women feel a million dollars in - cinderella shoes that unleash the goddess within.
